The automobile seat has at least one seat adjustment setting drive and a memory device (20) for holding the pre selected seating positions for different passengers, coupled to a device (2) for detecting the weight of the seated passenger, for addressing the correct pre selected seating position, used for automatic adjustment of the seat. An Independent claim for a method of obtaining a defined seating position for an adjustable automobile seat is also included.
