PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of obtaining a clear image with no flare at a low cost. SOLUTION: When reading a real image on a photographic film, a mask 10a of a small inner diameter shown in a figure (a) is used, and when reading data excepting for the real image (optical information), a mask 10b of a large inner diameter shown in figure (b) is used. When the mask 10a is used, since peripheral light flux is shielded, a clear image with no flare can be obtained. When the mask 10b of the large inner diameter is used, there is slight flare generated, but there is no hindrance in reading the optical information.
