The invention relates to a valve unit, especially for a urological catheter. Said valve unit comprises a through-opening (8) for a housing (2) filled with a liquid. Said housing is provided with a connection piece (4) for a catheter tube (7). In the interior of the housing (2) a membrane (9) is disposed which closes the through-opening (8). The invention provides a catheter stopper that does not have to be removed and that functions according to the valve system. To this end, a tubular valve opening part (12) is provided in the through-opening (8). Said valve opening part can be axially displaced therein and can be actuated from outside the housing. In the opening position of the valve unit (1), said valve opening part penetrates the membrane (9) with its end facing the catheter tube and in its closed position it can be withdrawn from the membrane (9).
