A check system for a procedure in a production line for items which has a plurality of production steps comprises: inputting information 16 of the production procedure, as a combination of a large process name and a small process name where the steps have a hierarchical relation with each other, to a first deduction unit 110; dividing the production procedure into one or more basic process procedures comprising one or more large processes, and each basic process procedure into blocks comprising one large process and a number of small processes, by reference to a process flow block knowledge base 19, wherein the knowledge base includes a unit 106 for storing knowledge as to a combination of a large process and small processes, and a unit 107 for storing knowledge of a predetermined basic procedure; inputting information as to the divided blocks to a second deduction unit 111; and judging in unit 111 whether or not the lineup order of the one or more blocks and the line-up order of a small-step name in each of the blocks are proper by reference to a knowledge base 20 for judging process flow, wherein the knowledge base 20 includes a block context knowledge unit 108 for storing knowledge for judging block position and a block content knowledge unit 109 for storing knowledge for judging the order of the small processes in each of the blocks. The basic procedure knowledge 107 may be omitted, and the whole procedure treated as one basic process.
