<p>A padded bag is utilised in the transportation of an article containing liquid eg. biological material such as blood or urine comprising a liquid resistant outer layer 8,9 and an inner layer 6,10 of absorbent material. The bag comprises a liquid- tight seal around the connected edge regions and means to provide a liquid -tight seal at the opening of the bag. The inner absorbent layer may consist of a plurality of tissues with additional absorbent elements which may be granular, powder, fibrous or polymeric material which may form a gell on contact with water based liquids. The liquid resistant outer layer may consist of high density paper 8 having a smooth finish and a coating 9 of plastics material. Cushioning material, which may be macerated or ground paper fibres which also absorb liquid is provided as an intermediate layer, the intermediate layer also optionally beiing provided with super absorbent elements such as polyacrylic acid salt.</p> |
