摘要 An apparatus for lifting and rotating a brake unit 16 comprises a wheeled support means eg a dolly (hatched lines, Figs.1-2), a lifting device 11 eg a hoist, a lifting device frame structure 4,6 and a brake unit rotating device (Fig.3). The frame consists of a pair of upright struts 1 welded to respective brackets 2, each strut locating on a pin 3. Further upright struts 4 are then slidably engaged and retained eg pip-pinned within said upright struts 1 and a further cross strut 4 is attached between the upright struts 4. Side struts 6 are connected between front and rear brackets 8,9. The lifting device is attached via a hook 12 to cross strut 4. Depending from a cable 13 is a hook 14 and strap 15 for attachment of the brake unit. The brake unit rotating means includes a frame 17 held by brackets 18 to the wheeled support means, prongs (19, Fig.2) for raising and lowering said frame or alternatively an hydraulic actuator may be provided, and bearings 21 eg ball bearings mounted on the frame which support a semi-circular curved liner 25 eg plate or platform which is supported by stiffeners 26, said liner being rotatable through a total of 80{ (40{ in each direction). In use, the strap is placed around a brake unit which is raised then lowered onto the brake rotating means. Said lifting means and its associated strut frame are then removed. The brake rotating means may then be raised via prongs 19 and rotated to allow said brake unit to correctly align with corresponding mounting points on the aircraft. The apparatus replaces the need for manual lifting and positioning of said brake unit.
