2:1 Dioctahedric phyllosilicates of montmorillonite type have a cross-linking distance of at least 2.00 x 10<-9> m and comprise interleaving columns based on compounds chosen from SiO2, Al2O3, TiO2, ZrO2, V2O5 or any combination of these. Independent claims are also included for their preparation and incorporation in catalysts for hydro-cracking.
