The bottom skate sub-frame (2) is pivotably joined to the top sub-frame (3) by a hinge with a central axis extending at right angles to the frame length axis below the top side of the bottom sub-frame. A skate frame (1) for coupling a blade (A) or wheels to a boot (B) comprises a top sub-frame joined via its front side to a bottom sub-frame by a simple hinge. The elongated bottom sub-frame includes a sleeve with a space for receiving the blade or wheels. The hinge central axis extends horizontally at right angles to the length axis for the two sub-frames, below the top side of the bottom sub-frame, and through the sleeve. Independent claims are also included for (a) a skate with the frame, and (b) the sub-frames.
