PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair cosmetic capable of imparting tensity, stiffness and a voluminous feeling to hair damaged, weakened and softened by a chemical treatment such as perming, bleaching or hair coloring or naturally slender and soft hair and having excellent styling properties. SOLUTION: This hair cosmetic comprises a water-soluble silicone having >=40 deg.C melting point (a polyether-modified silicone, etc.), a solubilized silk peptide (a polypeptide, etc., consisting essentially of sericin) and/or a water-soluble chitosan derivative (hydroxyethylchitosan, etc.).
