PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyaddition copolymer having reactive halogenomethyl groups in the side chains and a method for preparing the same. SOLUTION: The polyaddition copolymer of a compound having an epoxy group and an oxetane group in the same molecule with a dicarboxylic acid dihalide has a number average molecular weight Mn of about 2,000-200,000. The polyaddition copolymer is prepared by the polyaddition reaction of a compound having an epoxy group and an oxetane group in the same molecule with a dicarboxylic acid dihalide in the presence of a quaternary onium salt catalyst, a crown ether complex catalyst, a tertiary amine catalyst or a tertiary phosphine catalyst.
