PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decoration method for a column with which a column having a favorable appearance and exhibiting excellent adhesive strength, impact resistance, heat resistance, waterproof property, durability, etc., can be obtained by using a modified silicone-based adhesive having a specified viscosity and thixotropic index and exhibiting specified properties after curing. SOLUTION: A column (substrate) and a decoration material for decorating the surface of the column are adhered to each other with a modified silicone- based adhesive, in this decoration method of a column. The tensile strength measured in a dumbbell-shaped no.3 type test piece on the basis of JIS K-6301 in a cured material of the above modified silicone-based adhesive is at least 15 kgf/cm2, the elongation at cutting is at least 100%, the permanent elongation is at most 50%. in the test piece, and/or the viscosity of the modified silicone- based adhesive measured at 23 deg.C and in 10 rpm in the number of revolutions by use of a Brookfield viscometer is within a range of 1,000-1,000,000 mPa.s and further, the thixotropic index (viscosity at 1 rpm/viscosity at 10 rpm) is 3 or more.
