PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a mold clamping device using a ball screw contribute to space saving and cost reduction. SOLUTION: This mold clamping device is used for a mold apparatus wherein a mold cavity is formed by a fixed mold 12 and a movable mold 15. One end of a ball screw 16 is fitted on a movable platen 14 and the movable platen is moved in accordance with rotation of the ball screw. The ball screw is rotated and driven by means of a ball jack 17. A motor 19 for driving at high speed and a motor 20 for driving at low speed 20 are connected with the ball jack and they are driven and controlled in accordance with position of the movable platen. It is possible to make capacity of each motor extremely small by using two motors like this.
