PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple-structured vacuum cleaner allowing a user to adjust the electric power control and make the inspection for the function check-up easily. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner has a hose 2, an on hand setting means 7b, an on hand signal input means 9, a control means 5 and an inspection signal output means 8. One end of the hose 2 is connected to the cleaner main body 1 and an on hand part is mounted on the other end of the hose 2. The on hand setting means 7b is mounted on the on hand part for outputting signals to the cleaner main body 1. The on hand signal input means 9 is mounted on the cleaner main body 1 side for inputting signals from the on hand setting means 7b via the hose 2. The control means 5 is for controlling a fan motor 4 in the cleaner main body 1 according to the output of the on hand signal input means 9. The inspection signal output means 8 is for outputting inspection signals for the test operation. When a hose 3 for inspection is connected to the hose connecting part of the cleaner main body 1, signals from the inspection signal output means 8 can be transmitted to the on hand signal input means 9.
