PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer that can detect the trailing edge of rolled light/ pressure-sensitive printing paper whose trailing edge is detectable without practically narrowed printing areas, and of light/pressure-sensitive printing paper rolled up with one end fixed to the roll shaft and the other rendered deliverable. SOLUTION: Light/pressure-sensitive printing paper 1 is wound into a roll 20 with one end 21 fixed to a roll shaft 15 and the other rendered deliverable in a direction indicated at F, and is provided with trailing edge information 25 near the one end 21. The trailing edge information 25 is formed in a non- printing area D of the paper 1. A printer 30 that uses the printing paper 1 has a trailing edge information detector 80 for detecting the trailing edge information 25 of the paper 1, and a controller for stopping the printing operation of the printer 30 in accordance with the detection signal the detector 80 outputs when detecting the trailing edge information 25.
