PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide continuous number for each sorting item of an object the item by which the object is sorted, to print the continuous number and where to be sorted on the object corresponding them to each other, and to relate the contents of data of the object to the printed continuous number. SOLUTION: A sorting treatment device 1 of slips, or the like, reads out image data on the slip surface by an image reader 40 to determine the class of the slip, reads out the final continuous number stored corresponding to the sorting item of the slip by the determined class of the slip, updates the read final continuous number to print it by a printing part 50 corresponding to a code of the sorting item, and the group number stores the updated final continuous number together with the code of the sorting item and the group number and sorts/houses the slips in a prescribed place where the slips are to be housed in a sort desk 90.
