PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a continuous stripe like coating film in the longitudinal direction without transferring even a trace quantity of a coating liquid on a part to be coated by bringing a material to be coated in contact with a gravure roll through a necessary number of metal made masks having a necessary dimension which are interposed between the material to be coated and the gravure roll. SOLUTION: The material to be coated 1 is supported by rolls 2, 3, transported from the left rear side to the right front side. The gravure roll 16 on the whole surface of which a gravure engraving is applied is dipped in the coating liquid 5 retained in a coating liquid retainer 4, which is rotated in the direction of the arrow and brought into contact with the material to be coated through the masks 8 after excess coating liquid is scraped off by a doctor blade 7. As a result, the wear resistance between the gravure roll 6 and the material to be coated is made excellent, the friction coefficient is suppressed low and the dimensional accuracy of the coating liquid applied on the surface of a part of the material 1 to be coated which is not covered with the mask 8 is improved. |
