PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for molding a heavy-walled molded article without a defect such as a void (cavity) and a sink mark, and with a good appearance, easily, stably, and with a shortened cycle time and with increased productivity. SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing a thick molded article of a thermoplastic resin by using a hot runner mold 10 and by performing the molding while the resin in a hot runner gate 2 is held in a molten state, the mold temp. is set lower than the m.p. by 0-40 deg.C when the molten resin is injected into the mold, it is set, at the time of cooling, lower than that at the time of injection by 10-100 deg.C, and the gate chip 6 as well as the body 3 of the hot runner mold 10 is maintained in a heated state for a specific period of time or all the time, in order to keep the resin in the hot runner gate 2 in a molten state.
