PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient process for removing deleterious by-products from a carbon black which was oxidized using a nitrogen-containing oxidizing agent, and a device and a treatment process suitable for this. SOLUTION: In a process for treating oxidized carbon blacks, oxidized by- products are removed from the oxidized carbon blacks by heating the oxidized carbon blacks in a device. The device is equipped with a casing which possesses multiple trays having a slit part which are aligned in the vertical direction. Each tray has a scraper which scrapes off the powder from the tray via the slit to transfer the powder from the upper tray to the lower tray. A hot air is allowed to flow through the casing to heat the powder on the tray.
