PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively preventing polymerization in distillation of a (meth)acrylic acid. SOLUTION: A mixed gas obtained by subjecting propylene and/or acrolein to catalytic vapor phase oxidation with a molecular oxygen-containing gas or a mixed gas obtained by subjecting isobutylene, t-butyl alcohol and/or methacrolein to catalytic vapor phase oxidation is led to (meth)acrylic acid catching tower 101 and caught as a (meth)acrylic acid-containing solution and the (meth)acrylic acid-containing solution is led to a distillation tower 102 to separate and recover (meth)acrylic acid. In this time, total amount of concentration of 2-4C aldehyde and acetone to (meth)acrylic acid in the (meth)acrylic acid-containing solution is reduced to <=2,000 ppm and the (meth)acrylic acid- containing solution is led to the distillation tower 102.
