PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nitrification and denitrification apparatus capable of reducing power consumption. SOLUTION: The liquid introducing port of an aeration device 26 and the interior of a denitrification tank 14 are allowed to communicate with each other by a piping 24. When the aeration device 26 is driven, air is sent into the aeration device 26 from a blower 28 and treated water in the denitrification tank 14 is sucked into the aeration device 26 through the piping 24 and air- containing treated water is emitted into a nitrification tank 16 from the aeration device 26. By drawing the treated water in the denitrification tank 14 into the nitrification tank 16, the liquid level in the nitrification tank 16 is raised and the treated water in the nitrification tank 16 goes over a partition wall 22 to be returned to the denitrification tank 14.
