PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow fiber membrane high in separation efficiency and excellent in flexibility, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The hollow fiber membrane 1 is so formed as to has spiral shape at least partially in the longitudinal direction and as to satisfy the following: 2<=D<=300 and 0.5<=D/L<=30 wherein D (mm) denotes the diameter of the spiral and L (mm) denotes the length of the spiral. Consequently, the hollow-fiber membrane is provided with high flexibility and even if hollow-fiber membranes produced such a manner are bundled to be used, the hollow-fiber membranes are prevented from firm adhesion to one another and a wide contact surface area with a fluid can be obtained. Further, the flow of a fluid becomes nearly a turbulent flow and the concentration gradation of a solute in the periphery of the hollow-fiber membrane surface is constantly kept high, so that the separation efficiency can be improved.
