The coupling device is located at the rear end of a raisable tow bar (3) and comprises a tow hook (1) and a locking device (12) in the form of an essentially equilateral triangle-shaped plate, pivotable about a shaft (10) in a console (5). In a starting position (A) the front tip (13) of the plate is pressed against the side of the tow hook by the weight of the plate, then as the hook is introduced into a tow eyelet (11), the front tip is pressed downwards and the plate swings down. When the tow hook reaches a point where the front tip of the plate is free from the eyelet, the plate swings back to its starting position, where it blocks the eyelet. During unhitching of the trailer, the plate is uncoupled in a downwards direction, either manually or using a device operated from the tractor cabin. |
