PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bleaching composition having sufficient bleaching effect even in the case of using no bleach-activating agent in combination therewith, capable of being sufficiently used even under a neutral to weakly acidic condition, also excellent in preservation stability and useful as a bleaching agent, a bleaching detergent or the like by making the composition include a specificα-alkoxy peroxide. SOLUTION: This composition contains one or more kinds ofα-alkoxy peroxides (e.g. a compound of formula V) selected from compounds of formulas I to IV [m is 2-18; n is 0-20; X is H, a 1-20C hydrocarbon, an acyl (substituted with a 1-20C hydrocarbon) or the like; A is a 2-3C alkylene; x is 0-10; R is H, formyl, OH or the like], preferably in the proportion of >=0.05 wt.% based on the composition. The compounds of formulas I to IV are obtained, for example, by adding tetraethylene glycol or the like to cyclohexene or the like, and bringing the product into contact with an ozone-containing oxygen gas. The composition is useful as a mildew-removing agent, a detergent for a bath heater, a detergent for a water pipe or the like.
