PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic maintaining and improving original properties of skin, such as a soft moist touch, and capable of giving a moisture-retaining property and other characteristics to the skin, by formulating oceanic deep water and purified water in a specific ratio. SOLUTION: This cosmetic is formulated with (A) oceanic deep water and (B) purified water in a weight ratio of 1/10 to 1/100,000 (as the ratio of the oceanic deep water to the purified water), wherein the oceanic deep water is defined as such one that has a concentration ratio of nitrogen, comprising nitrate nitrogen and nitrite nitrogen, to phosphate phosphor of 1.2 to 60.0 (as the ratio of the nitrogen concentration to the phosphor concentration), when the concentrations of the components are expressed inμmol/l. The cosmetic preferably contains the component A in an amount of <=15 wt.%. The cosmetic can be prepared in any forms of a liquid form, a creamy form, a solid form, etc.
