PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a depressant which exerts excellent suppressive effect on nasal cavity resistant increase, sneezing or pituita secretion by including a nitrogen monoxide (NO) production suppressive substance. SOLUTION: This depressant against nasal cavity resistant increase or the like is obtained by including a NO production suppressive substance or preferably a vascular permeability and vasodilation suppressive substance. As the above substance, e.g. N-nitro-L-arginine (methyl ester), methyl guanidine, dimethyl guanidine, amino guanidine, monomethyl arginine, nitro arginine, S- ethyl isothiourea, 2-iminopiperidine or the like is illustrated. The content of the above substance is usually about 0.1-100 wt.% based on the whole weight of a pharmaceutical preparation. This depressant may be administrated by both oral and parenteral routes. For example, it is administrated usually at a once dose of about 0.1-20 mg/kg body weight when orally administrated to an adult patient (60 kg) for the purpose of treating nasal cavity resistant increase.
