PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the occurrence of a crack or the like in a sample and shorten the operation time by providing plural cutting parts along a fixed linear direction in a cutting blade, and reducing the respective cutting parts in length by stages from the downstream in the relative moving direction between a sample table and the cutting blade toward the upstream. SOLUTION: A cutting blade is held by a cutting blade holding means and provided with plural cutting parts 3A-3C formed along a fixed straight line T. The respective cutting parts 3A-3C are reduced in distance from the tip to the machined face 1A by stages from the downstream in the relative moving direction of the cutting blade 3 toward the upstream. That is, the distances from the machined surface 1A to the respective cutting parts 3A to 3C are related to one another to satisfy the expression: J1<J2<J3. The respective cutting parts 3A-3C are set in such a manner that the spaces K1, K2 in the vertical direction are 0.5 mm. Thus, the respective cutting parts 3A-3C are used to gradually cut grooves different in depth to desired depths so that smooth machining can be performed by one operation without applying load to the sample.
