PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate/remove various harmful substances efficiently from polluted soil without generating harmful by-products and costing labor for post- treatment. SOLUTION: An apparatus 1 for separating/removing harmful substances comprises an airtight housing body 3 for housing polluted soil 2 containing harmful substances, an exhaust pipe 4 communicating with the closed space of the housing body 3, a vacuum pump 6 connected with the exhaust pipe 4 through a gas-liquid separation tank 5, and a collection apparatus 7 connected to the downstream side of the pump 6. The housing body 3 can be rotated around a horizontal axis by a driving motor 26. An agitation blade 32 is fitted on the inner surface of the housing body 3. By the rotation of the blade 32 with the rotation of the housing body 3, the polluted soil 2 in the housing body 3 can be agitated, and an electric heater is embedded in the cross section of the blade 32.
