PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily separate oil and water from oil-containing water, separately recover oil and water to prevent useless consumption of water resource, and at the same time, lower the maintenance and operation cost for various types of working machines by installing a multilayer filter made of a sintered material powder of a hydrophobic material in the surrounding of the flow route of a water to be treated. SOLUTION: This multilayer filtration element 10 is composed by layering a plurality of filters 14-16 in the surrounding of the flow route 12 of a water to be treated. The flow route 12 is made connectable to a supply route of the object water to be treated in one end part 12a side and closed in the other end part side to which a supporting axis 30 for supporting the multilayer filtration element 10 in a housing. Regarding the respective filters 14-16, the filter 14 which is the innermost layer is so installed as to keep gap to the outer surface of the flow route 12 to form a gap 18 to be a distribution chamber of the object water for distribution and the whole bodies are made of a sintered material powder of a hydrophobic material in a porous structure. Owing to the hydrophobic material, the fine oil contained in the object water is agglomerated and separated from water.
