PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a printing system which can obtain a correct time in a short time irrespective of a host computer if only a printer power source is turned on next even when the power source is cut off for a long time without using parts unfavorable to an environment such as a secondary battery or the like. SOLUTION: A wave clock part 34 is set which exerts a clock function by receiving standard waves including predetermined time information. The present time outputted every one minute by the radio clock part 34 is stored in a RAM 14 to be utilized. When a power source of the printer is turned off, a time at the time is stored in an EEPROM 16, and compared with the present time outputted by the radio clock part 34 when the power source is turned on next. A time interval while the power source is turned off is measured and, pumping is carried out accordingly.
