PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve means for monitoring the torque that a driving unit transmits a driven unit of, in particular, a textile machine. SOLUTION: For torque transmission from a driving unit 46 to a driven unit in a machine, there are cam disks 52 to 62 among others adapted to occupy different specific operating positions while the driving unit 46 is in operation, monitor means 49 for monitoring the operating positions of the cam disks 52 to 62, memory means 44 for storing rated-load torque corresponding to the operating positions of the cam disks 52 to 62, and control means 38. The control means 38 is connected to the memory means 44, the monitor means 49 and another monitor means 43, so as to compare the instantaneous torque of the driving unit 46 with that rated-load torque in the memory means 44 which corresponds to the instantaneous operating positions of the cam disks 52 to 62 and to detect an overload or part load before releasing the control action.
