PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain cumene process phenols useful as a chemical raw material or the like, capable of obtaining its production increasing effect without accompanied with any equipment remodeling by acid decomposition of the corresponding hydroperoxides under pressurized conditions. SOLUTION: This cumene process phenols are obtained by acid decomposition of the corresponding hydroperoxides produced by oxidation with an oxygen- contg. gas of an arylalkyl hydrocarbon of the formula (P and Q are each H or an alkyl; x is 1-3; Ar is an x-valent aromatic hydrocarbon) such as cumene, cymene, m-diisopropylbenzene, p-diisopropylbenzene, 1,3,5-triisopropylbenzene, isopropylnaphthalene, diisopropylnaphthalene, isopropylbiphenyl or diisopropylbiphenyl under a pressure of about 600-2,000 mmH2O.
