PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket and spigot joint rod which keeps joint strength, and at the same time, has good appearance of joint part, and is excellent in compactness and operability. SOLUTION: In a socket and spigot joint rod in which a large diameter rod tube 1 and a small diameter rod tube 2 are jointed via a joint rod 3, a covering member 4 which covers the joint rod 3 is formed at the jointing part of the large diameter rod tube 1 and the small diameter rod tube 2 so that the outside diameter of the covering member 4 does not protrude out from both the rod tubes or enforcing rings 5 placed on the ends of the rod tubes 1, 2 when the socket and spigot joint rod is assembled.
