PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable quick and accurate detection of a recording head ejection failure. SOLUTION: Data concerning the temperature of a recording head 15 are provided by a temperature detecting element 1502 provided in the recording head and a temperature detecting element controlling circuit 1600. The data are stored in a sample/hold circuit 1601 at timings immediately before and immediately after a recording operation for each block. The difference between the two data as the temperature rise data of the recording head 15 before and after the recording operation is compared with ordinary temperature rise data without an ejection failure by a comparison judgment circuit 1602. In the case the temperature rise before and after the recording operation is large, it is judged that the ink ejection failure is generated so as to advise the same to a CPU 11. |
