PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame-retardant resin composition having excellent flame retardance and mechanical characteristics without using a halogen-based flame- retardant by making the composition include a thermoplastic thermosetting resin, a specific compound, cyanuric acid, etc., and a boron-based compound. SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic polyester resin (e.g. polybutylene terephthalate resin), (B) 5-30 pts.wt., preferably 5-20 pts.wt. of a phosphoric ester-based compound of formula I (X is H or a 1-3C alkyl) (e.g. a compound of formula II), (C) 5-70 pts.wt., preferably 5-50 pts.wt. of cyanuric acid (derivative) (e.g. melamine cyanurate) or a tetrazole- based compound (e.g. 5,5'-bistetrazole 2-ammonium), (D) 1-50 pts.wt., preferably 1-30 pts.wt. of a boron-based compound (e.g. zinc borate) and (E) optionally a reinforcing filler, antioxidant, heat stabilizer, impact modifier, nucleating agent, etc.
