PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving the hair quality by which hair is scarcely damaged and curly hair can be corrected. SOLUTION: A one-part type hair treating agent composition comprising <=2 wt.% of a reducing agent and an alkaline agent and regulated to pH 8-12 is used to repetitively carry out treatment. Thereby, curly hair is slowly corrected. Reducing agents if generally used in the hair treating agent are not especially limited as the reducing agent in the hair treating agent. Among them, a thioglycolic salt such as thioglycolic acid, ammonium thioglycolate, sodium thioglycolate or thioglycolic acid monoethanolamine, cysteine and its salts, a cysteine derivative such as N-acetyl-L-cysteine, sulfurous salts such as sulfurous acid, ammonium sulfite or sodium sulfite and a hydrogensulfurous salt such as ammonium hydrogensulfite or sodium hydrogensulfite are preferred.
