PRODUCTION OF MOLDED PRODUCT OF NORBORNENE-BASED POLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject good molded product without being influenced by environments and without defective curing by laminating a fibrous material on a forming mold while impregnating the fibrous material with a polymerizable composition comprising a norbornene-based monomer and a specific catalyst. SOLUTION: (B) A fibrous material is laminated onto a forming mold or an adherend while impregnating the fibrous material (B) with a polymerizable composition containing (A) (i) a norbornene-based monomer (preferably dicyclopentadiene) and (ii) a ruthenium-carbene complex represented by formula I (R1 and R2 are each H, a 2-20C alkenyl or the like; X1 and X2 are each an anionic ligand; L1 and L2 are each a neutral electron donor) or a ruthenium vinylidene complex represented by formula II (R3 and R4 are each H, a 2-20C alkenyl or the like; X3 and X4 are each an anionic ligand; L3 and L4 are each a neutral electron donor) and the component (i) in the fibrous material (B) is then polymerized to produce the objective molded product. The resultant molded product is excellent in heat and impact resistances and suitably used for applications such as house materials or substrates for plumbing.
