PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To repeatedly and stably perform a single crystal pulling-up operation many times by providing a carbon crucible consisting of a carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composite material(C/C material) with a projecting disklike bottom member to be fitted to a pedestal for the crucible at the bottom and fixing the bottom of the crucible and the bottom member to each other with fixation members. SOLUTION: This carbon crucible 2 consisting of a C/C material is provided with a projecting disklike bottom member 10 to be fitted to a pedestal for the crucible 2 at its bottom and the bottom of the crucible 2 and the bottom member 10 are fixed to each other with fixation members such as bolts, wherein: as the material of the bolts, that having similar chemical stability and high-temperature strength to the C/C material is required and therefore, as the bolts, those made of a C/C material having the same quality as the C/C material of the main body of the crucible 2 or graphite material are preferred; the bottom of the crucible 2 and the bottom member 10 are fixed to each other by bolting them together with these bolts, for example, at positions located in the peripheral part of the disklike bottom member 10, along the periphery and a certain distance inwardly apart from the periphery. Thus, the bottom of the crucible 2 and the bottom member 10 are firmly joined together to hardly cause any separation of them from each other even when affected by thermal cycling of heating and cooling.
