PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a clamp device to a small size while a fixing performance of a thin steel plate ca certainly exhibit in the clamp device for fixing the thin steel plate. SOLUTION: A clamp device CM for gripping and fixing a thin steel plate 1 is provided with an electro-magnet 3 for attracting the thin steel plate 1; a back plate 6 comprising a magnetic body disposed in opposition to the electro- magnet 3; an air cylinder 4 for moving the back plate 6 in a direction of abutting on the electro-magnet 3 and in a direction of leaving from the electro-magnet 3. Therefore, the thin steel plate 1 is fixed by an attraction force due to a magnetic force in the state that it its clamped between the electro-magnet 3 and the back plate 6.
