PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated arc welding electrode having high corrosion resistance and good weldability even in such environment that salt comes flying. SOLUTION: In the coated arc welding electrode applying a coating agent on a steel core wire, to the whole weight of the coated electrode, as the total content of the coating agent and the steel core wire, this electrode contains 0.005-0.16 wt.% C, 0.002-0.05 wt.% P, 0.2-4.0 wt.% Ni and 0.1-4.0 wt.% Mo and is regulated to <=0.1 wt.% Cr, and in the case of using [P] for P content, [Ni] for Ni content and [Mo] for Mo content, a parameter A shown with A=[Ni]+3[Mo], is regulated to >=1.2. Further, in the case of using [Ni]p, [Mo]p and [P]p for the contents of Ni, Mo and P contained in the welded steel plate, respectively, a parameter B shown with B=([Ni]+3[Mo])/([Ni]p+3[Mo]p), is regulated to >=1.05 and a parameter C shown with C=[P]/[P]p, is regulated to <=0.90.
