PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a peracetic acid composition capable of being safely used in medical field, and usable as a degerming agent for an artificial dialyzer and medical equipment by removing metallic impurities so that the concentration may be a specific value or lower. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained (A) by preparing the composition from a hydrogen peroxide aqueous solution obtained by treating hydrogen peroxide solution with a strong acid cation exchange resin (e.g. Amberlite(R) 200CP manufactured by Organo corporation formed into hydrogen type) or the like, and having <=30 ppm metal concentration, and acetic acid obtained by the same treatment and having <=1 ppm metal concentration, or (B) by carrying out a purification treatment by the before ion-exchanging method or the like of a peracetic acid composition so as to have <=1 ppm metal concentration. The composition is an equilibrium composition and therefor the concentrations of the hydrogen peroxide and the acetic acid, in a raw material are not limited.
