PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate useless oscillations of a scale in relation to a distance to an optical sensor and facilitate mounting the scale by mounting to an urging member mount part an urging means having an urging of a tension direction component to the scale. SOLUTION: A tension coil spring 30 as an urging member has one end mounted to a hook 13A of an urging member mount part 13 and the other end mounted to a printer body at the rear side of a frame 5. A spring force provides an urging of a tension direction component parallel to a tension direction to a scale 6 to the hook 13A. The scale 6 is brought into contact with an engagement face 12A by the urging of the tension coil spring 30 and a moment having a hold part 14 as an application center is generated by the urging to the urging member mount part 13. Accordingly, the scale 6 is prevented from generating oscillations in a direction related to a distance to an optical sensor or the like and a good printing quality can be obtained.
