PURPOSE: A method for controlling a power of a terminal in a wireless communication system is provided for minimizing the consumption of a power of a terminal. CONSTITUTION: When a communication is not performed, a mobile terminal maintains a standby mode for thereby minimizing the consumption of a power. In this state, a base station transmits a preamble signal including an identification code to the terminal. The terminal continuously receives the above signals and compares with his identification code. In this state, a call is achieved by inputting a telephone number and a send button so that a subscriber wants to call another subscriber or a certain person.
