PURPOSE: A data collision prevention device between a fault diagnosis unit and an electronic control unit is provided to improve communication efficiency by interrupting response signal output when there occurs a data collision. CONSTITUTION: A fault diagnosis unit diagnoses fault in various electronic devices of an automobile. Data signal of the fault diagnosis unit is transferred to an electronic control unit via a communication path. A data collision detection device comprises a switching unit, first inverter unit, exclusive OR unit, flip-flop, second inverter unit and an AND unit. The switching unit is turned on and off by the output signal of the AND unit depending on the communication path state and signal state of the electronic control device.
