PURPOSE: A communication protocol between an engine controller and an external computer is provided to facilitate data communication by using the computer connected to the engine controller. CONSTITUTION: A command required for communication is transferred and received(S11,S21). Response signal is transferred and received to notify the reception state of the command(S22,S12). Data transceiving of the number of communication channels(S13,S23) is performed. Memory address signal to be coded is transferred and received(S14,S15,S24,S25). Initial data stored in the received address is transferred and received(S26,S16). Data updated corresponding to each state is transferred and received(S17,S27). After updating data stored in the corresponding address, it is transferred and received to identify its state(S28,S18). After checking the communication state, the corresponding information is transferred and received(S19,S29). After comparing the checking information with each checking state, the result is transferred and received(S210,S110). If the result signal is normal communication is terminated(S100), and if it is abnormal communication is resumed(S111).
