PURPOSE: A telephone having an automatic answering function is provided to display information relating to a processing message or a caller ID on a screen by a voice recognition function. CONSTITUTION: A memory(280) stores initial telephone information and telephone messages. If voice messages and a caller ID are received from an exchange, an address processor(260) extracts telephone information relating to the caller ID from the initial telephone information. If the caller ID is not received, the address processor(260) compares the received voice messages with recorded voice data, and extracts telephone information relating to a caller. An automatic answering processor(270) calls the other party from the extracted telephone information. A controller(230) displays the telephone information relating to the caller ID and received message information on a screen, and generates a predetermined answering message by the telephone information relating to the caller.
