PURPOSE: A slim CD-ROM drive with a multipurpose cartridge apparatus is provided for allowing the cartridge to be operated by the slim CD-ROM drive, to reproduce and scan audio signals, to charge power and connect to external power, and to interface with a lap-top computer. CONSTITUTION: In a multifunctional cartridge(10), a connector connect unit(12) is connected to a slim CD-ROM drive connector arranged for interfacing with a computer. A key input unit is connected to the connector connect unit for reproducing audio signal in the CD-ROM and for scanning key input. An audio signal output terminal(28) is connected to the connector connect unit for outputting the reproduced audio signal. A DC power terminal receives external DC power for supplying to the slim CD-ROM drive through the connect unit. A charge unit supplies charge power to the slim CD-ROM drive through the connect unit. An interface connect unit is connected to an interface terminal of the connect unit for interfacing the CD-ROM drive and the computer.
