PURPOSE: A reflection type projection apparatus is provided to convert the output light emitted from an optical source into a light with one polar without optical loss. CONSTITUTION: The reflection type projection apparatus includes an optical source(10), a polarization converter(40), a front relay lens system, an optical divider, an optical wave converter, a rear relay lens system, an image generator(60), a color prism(70) and a projection lens unit(80). The polarization converter(40) converts the light illuminated from the optical source to a light with one polar. The front relay lens system is implemented between the optical source and the polarization converter and makes the incident light almost parallel. The optical divider divides the light with one polar which passes the polarization converter based on a wavelength region. The optical wave path converter is implemented between the light wave paths of the divided light and converts the wave path. The rear relay lens system is implemented between the optical divider and the wave path converter. The image generator(60) generates images from the incident light with one polar which passes the wave path converter. The color prism(70) selectively reflects or passes the light. The projection lens unit(80) magnifies the light incident on the color prism side.
