PURPOSE: An organic electric field luminous element is provided to prevent moisture from penetrating into the device and thus ensure prolonged life time and enhanced luminous efficiency by forming an organic coating film for preventing moisture penetration on the organic electric field luminous element. CONSTITUTION: A first electrode(3), a number of stacked organic layers(5), a second electrode(7) and a protective layer(9) are formed in sequence on a substrate(1). A cover plate(15) is formed on the protective layer(9) with a predetermined distance to shield moisture and oxygen. The cover plate(15) is provided in the lower part with a recess to receive a moisture absorbent layer(13). Under the moisture absorbent layer(13), a support layer(11) is provided to prevent any particles in the moisture absorbent layer(13) from dropping down. The cover plate(15) provided with the moisture absorbent layer(13) and the support layer(11) is adhered to the substrate(1) by using an epoxy resin type adhesive(21). A moisture penetration preventive organic coating layer is formed over the whole outer surface of the organic electric field luminous element including the exposed surface of the epoxy resin type adhesive(21) and the outer surface of the cover plate(15).
