PURPOSE: A method for transmitting a manuscript data by setting a resolution of a manuscript is provided for preventing a delay of a transmission time by limiting the kinds of a selected resolution in accordance with a receivable resolution of a receiving fax machine. CONSTITUTION: A transmission resolution of a manuscript data transmitted to a receiving side fax machine(200) is set(S100). The setting operation of a transmission resolution of the manuscript data is implemented by using one among a unit(173) for setting into a normal mode, a unit(174) for setting into a fine mode, and a unit(175) for setting into a super fine mode. In addition, as the kinds of the resolutions of the manuscript data, there are known Normal, Fine and Super Fine modes which are supported by the common fax machine. When the transmission resolution is set, a dialing is made to a receiving side fax machine(200) for thereby judging whether call for communication is set(S110).
