PURPOSE: A flat cathode ray tube is provided to reduce the dispersion of a Q value by improving a structure of a tension mask. CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent layer(21a) is formed on an inner face of a panel(21). A projection(21b) is formed on an inner side of the panel(21). A mask frame assembly(30) comprises a frame(31) and a tension mask(32). A multitude of electron beam passing hole is formed on the tension mask(32). The panel(21) is combined with a funnel(40). The funnel(40) is inserted into the panel(21). The frame(31) is pressed by an end portion of the funnel(40). A retainer(33) is installed between the frame(31) and the end portion of the funnel(40) in order to support the frame(31). an electron gun is inserted into a neck portion(41) of the funnel(40). A deflection yoke(43) is installed at a cone portion of the funnel(40).
